Buying Property in the Jalon Valley, Spain

Buying Property in the Jalon Valley, Spain

Author: Emma

When considering buying a property abroad many people decide on the sunny climate and white san beaches that line the beautiful Costa Blanca in Spain. One of the most desirable areas of Spain is the stunning Jalon Valley. However, recent negative news reports have seen many potential buyers shun the area. So what is the truth to the beautiful Jalon Valley?

The Jalon Valley has some of the best scenery, and what's more this striking backdrop changes periodically with the seasons. In spring the almond blossom decorates the area with splashes of purple, pinks and white, whilst towards summer the orange trees blossom and the air is gently fragranced with citrus hints. Towards autumn the valley is green with the grape vines and the farmers are out harvesting their valuable crops. Whilst in winter we may be lucky enough to have a dusting of snow over the highest peaks – picture postcard just by looking out of your window!

When visiting the Jalon Valley, or after your relocation to the Costa Blanca, always take the opportunity to visit some of the historic areas, these include: the Fonts D'Algar, a natural fresh water spring which is luxurious in the summer: La Peñon de Ifach, walk to the top of the famous Calpe rock and enjoy the stunning 360º views and the village of Guadalest, with the lake views and super little gift shops this pedestrian only village shows us the techniques used in Spanish farming from yesteryear.

It is true that some people, who had a position of trust and authority, took advantage of both ex-pats and Spaniards alike by selling them properties that did not fulfil the legal requirements as stated by law. However, on the back of the unfortunate event that took place in the idyllic village of Lliber, those buyers who are investing in the beautiful Jalon Valley are now purchasing properties only after all the documentation has been thoroughly reviewed. Cases Xalo estate agents insist on checking a property's documentation on listing the property as well as prior to completing a purchase at the notary.

When purchasing in Spain it is important to purchase through a legal estate agent like Cases Xalo. Make sure that the estate agent is registered, look for a sticker on the door (API and AEGAI are some of the most popular governing bodies). Most estate agents will speak enough English to understand your requirements but make sure you hire a bi-lingual lawyer to review the documentation, Cases Xalo are able to introduce you to a lawyer who speaks your language. When looking at properties never feel pressured into buying, the agent should never push you in to buying and always go back for as many viewings as you feel you need.

Overall the Jalon Valley is still one of the most sought after locations in Spain to live. If you are thinking of buying, selling, renting or building in the Jalon Valley then contact Cases Xalo SL.
