HELP! I've broken the loo!!

After a long morning in the office I decided to get handy in my apartment. A number of small jobs were on the 'things to do list' and in a small moment of madness, I decided to tackle that list. The first task was the small cloakroom toilet that had never flushed.....boy do I wish I had just sat down and watched TV!

The main water inlet comes in from the bottom of the cistern and with the calcium build up (as well as my rather delicate hand) I had a massive water feature in my toilet within seconds! Running to turn the water off I decided that maybe I shouldn't have started the job in the first place. But no, my sheer stuborness had risen its ugly head and I thought I'll finish the job I started. Not seeing any other way I phoned my brother!

Turns out I now needed the whole inerds of the cistern, for a very old toilet, so off to the lovely ROCA warehouse people in Benissa. Almost got rear ended by a speeding Englishman on the way which didn't impress the very hungry and tired brother who had been forced into my toilet drama but eventually got there.

The 10 minutes in ROCA resulted in 38 Euros leaving my rather empty purse, and back to the apartment where my brother tried for hours to loosen some odd bolt thing that hadn't been looked at since it was installed about 30 years ago.....oh and the only tool I had on me where some grips! It was like a Crystal Maze Challenge but without the rewards or fun.

After 5 hours of some rather rude language we (ok my brother) and my Dad, who turned up with tools and support, managed to take the toilet cistern to pieces. Easy yes? NO! I then had to change the tube that fed the toilet as it wasnt the flexi tubing and the old style tubes weren't compatable with the new style ROCA float/inlet pipes. Ironically I fitted the flexi tube and float in 5 seconds flat....

The moral of this story is when you have a task to do, act like you have all day, because thats how long it will probably take you! Or if all else fails use a lifeline and phone a friend!
